The wait is over. Quarterback Chris Leak has finally made his decision public. The five-star quarterback from Charlotte (N.C.) Independence High School, has committed to Florida. Here is a statement he read at halftime of the All-American Bowl.
"First I want to thank ESPN for giving me this opportunity to announce my college choice. Going through the recruiting process, I had three questions. First, where can I get a great education. Second, could I trust what I was being told. And third, could I play a part in winning a national championship. Texas, Iowa, Southern Cal, Florida and Florida State are all great programs that I trust and this made my decision tough. However, I am asking all the top recruits to join me and win a national championship. Out of all the schools that are recruiting me, there is one that has made a commitment to my future that is second to none. With that commitment, I am being trusted what I have been told and following my heart. Today, I am committing to Ron Zook and the University of Florida."
Other All-American standouts committed during the game as well. USC continues its recruiting dominance getting running Reggie Bush. Bush is one of the nation's elite backs. Also committing to the Trojans today is LenDale White, another outstanding tailback prospect. White is from Colorado.
Michigan landed another huge commitment is Prescott Burgess. Burgess, from Ohio, turned down the national champion Buckeyes, Notre Dame, Florida and Tennessee and picked the maize and blue.
