WR ready to make a name for himself
Dante Chambers has had to wait his turn at Miramar. He was the team's No. 3 receiver last year, as Stedman Bailey (West Virginia) and Ivan McCartney (No. 6 rated player in Florida in our Pre-Spring Hot 100) took the top two spots. "I'm ready to make big things happen this season," Chambers said. "With Stedman gone, me and Ivan really need to step up. Eugene (Smith - West Virginia) has moved on too but we're getting a good quarterback from American Heritage (Ryan Williams) who can throw it pretty good. I'm excited." Chambers, 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, finished his junior season with 31 catches for 474 yards and three touchdowns. "People underestimate me because of my size," he said. "I'm really quick off the line and I know how to run good routes and make big plays." Chambers is still waiting for his first offer but says several schools are evaluating him now. "The ones I like most are Miami, Florida, USF, West Virginia, and Clemson," he said. "I gotta see who steps up with an offer. Miami was my top school growing up but I'm not sure how interested they are in me right now." Chambers knows what he'll be looking for in a school. "I'll look at the campus life and the atmosphere around the team and the school," he said. Inside the classroom, Chambers claims a 2.9 GPA and hasn't reported a test score yet.
