"I started at QB, but I also played a lot of safety," added Same
Noblin. "The last three game of the season they played me at WR and a lot
at LB."
Regardless of the position he plays, the 6' 3", 205 pounder feels like
he has a leg up on the competition in one area.
"Just my ability to finish the job to get the game won. I have that burning
desire to win."
Noblin, the son of former Ole Miss great Jeff Noblin, had a chance to take in
a Rebel practice.
"I really enjoyed it. We got their around one and they showed us around
the campus. We then met up with all of the coaches. I have been going up there
for a while, but I had never learned how the football team really is. What are
the practices like? It is face paced. What I really noticed is how behind everyone
is with their football program. The city, the school, the students, fans, just
everyone. They get a lot of support.
What did the coaches say to Sam?
"I talked to Coach Dickerson about the position I really wanted to play,
and he told me the different formations they run, like the Wild Rebel. I could
play some WR or QB in the Wild Rebel."
What has Sam's father relayed to him about Ole Miss?
"He played with Coach Austin (QB and Offensive Coordinator) so he has
a lot of respect and trust in him. I grew up going to Ole Miss games so I have
always enjoyed it up there, and when they started recruiting me, it got even
more interesting."
What stands out about Ole Miss outside of growing up going to their games?
"I really like what they have done with their program lately. They have
gotten it to where they are going to consistently win big. Also, all of their
coaches are just so nice and treat you like family."
Did Ole Miss discuss where Sam fits in with their plans?
"Coach Austin said they signed a QB (Raymond Cotton) in last year's class,
and he said they will probably sign one more this year. I can play WR too. To
be honest, I am not sure how all that fits in. I am coming back to their 1 Day
camp in June so hopefully I will have a good showing."
Who are the main colleges involved right now?
"I say MSU, Ole Miss, USM, LSU, Duke, Clemson, and I am getting a lot of
letters from UCLA and Stanfod. I talk to Ole Miss and MSU on the phone a lot.
I have been talking to the LSU coaches a good bit. I talk to USM a good bit
too."
What stands out about MSU?
"I have been up there a good bit too. It is always real nice. I really
like Coach Mullen. I went to one of their practices too, and they really have
a good program up there. Things are looking good for MSU."
USM?
"I went there for an unofficial visit, and I also got a chance to watch
their spring scrimmage that was held at our field. That was fun. It is also
close to home, and a lot of my friends go to school there. Our running back
is already committed there, and my good buddy, DeAndre Brown, also is there."
What are LSU's positives?
"I have been going over there ever since Richard Dickson started going
there. I really like Baton Rouge, and they have great facilities and coaches.
They get after it down there."
Any college camps this summer?
"Ole Miss and MSU wanted me to come to their 1 Day Camp, so I will probably
do those, and I am not sure exactly where else I will go."
