Detroit Southeastern has put several players into BCS conference schools over the past few years. This year, the Jungaleers again boast several prospects of interest for college coaches. One of them is quarterback
Edward Thomas. The 6'2, 185-lb Thomas is a fine athlete who could play a variety of other positions as well in college and should receive his first offer this weekend.
"Bowling
Green and
Central Michigan both said they were going to offer," Southeastern assistant coach Deon Godfrey said, "He's going up to Central this weekend and he should get the offer then."
Thomas will be joined on his trip by defensive tackle
Jonathan Hankins and linebacker
Calen Spencer. Hankins is also expected to receive an offer from the Chippewas this weekend, that would make two for him this week.
"Minnesota offered Hank just a few minutes ago," Godfrey reported, "He's supposed to go down to
Florida again soon. Florida's been contacting him pretty hard."
Carmel Linebacker Receives First Offer
Carmel High (Ind.) is another program which has regularly churned out FBS prospects. This year,
Brian East is one of the school's top recruits and the 6'3, 195-lb outside linebacker just picked up offer number one.
"Brian received his first official offer,"
his father Greg East reported, "He was offered by
Air Force. We are going to
Akron soon. We sent them his tape and they seem very interested."
East was named to the 5A All-State team as a junior and also made 1st team All-Conference after making 107 total tackles (67 solo, 13 for loss), eight sacks, eight quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and five recoveries.
Bolden On the Move

Orchard Lake St. Mary's quarterback
Robert Bolden has found time in the midst of his busy track season to take a visit out to Happy Valley.
"I'm going to
Penn State for the weekend, we're leaving [Friday]," he reported.
The 6'3, 190-lb Bolden is a Scout100 member who now has 19 offers, with the Nittany Lions happening to be the most recent, as they offered him just last week. Bolden has other offers from
Michigan,
Michigan State,
Northwestern,
Missouri,
West Virginia,
Virginia and many others, but has recently said that PSU is an attractive place to him.
“I wouldn’t prefer to run with a predominantly spread team or under center team. I like to mix it up, like Penn State’s offense for example, is an offense that I would like to run,” he explained.
Lester Has One
Mundelein Carmel (Ill.) defensive tackle
Steven Lester has one scholarship offer from Air Force and may soon add more. The 6'2, 265-lb Lester has been hearing from a host of schools who want to see more of him.
"All the schools interested want me to come to their camp and do 1-1s against some of the better players," he explained, "Some of the bigger schools interested are
Northern Illinois,
Illinois,
Kansas and Michigan State, those are the big four and
Indiana and a few others are starting to send more mail too."
Lester was an All-Conference and All-Area selection as a junior.
