Football Recruiting Priority No.1

Scout.com breaks down Kansas' No.1 need; linebackers.

Linebackers that Kansas has officially offered:

Kris Caitlin of James Madison

Rashad Favors of Fort Worth Dunbar

Jeremiah George of Clearwater High

Jordan Hicks of Lakota West

Trey Millard of Rock Bridge

Corey Nelson of Skyline

With linebacker being the No.1 priority for Kansas' 2010 recruiting class, they are attempting to bring in some very high profile prospects. Below, I breakdown the prospects who they have offered and I give my order of the top get guys.

Jordan Hicks

1) Hicks- A big, fast, violent hitter, with great lateral range while also being just as good filling downhill. He is a hard LB to block because he "read and go" too fast for most lineman and if you do happen to get hands on, his short area explosiveness is so advanced that he crushes you at the point of attack. His explosiveness, size, and ability to not false step makes him college ready right now. Even with all of those attributes, he still has huge up side. His frame will add weight and he can get better in coverage.

Chances of landing Hicks: Low

Though he has yet to fully narrow down his list of top schools, Ohio State, USC, Alabama and Florida seem to have the edge according to most recruit speak.

2) Nelson - A very fast OLB that is just starting to learn the position (played DE before). He is great in space. He is a cerebral football player that diagnosis' a play as fast as anyone and once he knows where the ball is going, you can forget about it.

Chances of landing Nelson: Low

His good friend and current teammate, WR Mike Davis, has committed to LSU and he likes them. Also, Florida and Texas seem to be high on his list.

Millard - He is run stopping LB. He is tough as nails and athletic. He is a high motor MLB that plays with tremendous athleticism. He displays great lateral range, takes great angles to the football, and is relentless in pursuit going sideline to sideline. He is also sound in both man and zone coverage. Must work on hip flexibility as he leaves his legs unprotected at times. Also because he plays high at times, his change of direction and burst out of breaks lacks explosiveness.

Chances of landing Millard: Medium.

He has been to campus for a visit so that shows interest but, he said his visit was, "just alright." He was not overly enthused.

Jeremiah George

George - At the BadgerSport 7on7 in Tampa, George helped his stock a ton. He displayed solid athletic ability as he was running with backs out of the backfield and covered slots and TEs. He is athletic and has great hips for a LB. His body composition is great. He has muscles on top of muscles which makes his flexibility in his hips even more impressive.

Chances of landing George: High

He is open to leaving the state and probably will not receive an offer from one of the "Big 3" in state schools.

Kris Catlin

Catlin - Has a nose for the ball. Uses his hands well to scrape over the block. He has a quick first step and is always in attack mode. He is very productive and leads by example. His intangibles make him a solid prospect and future leader of a defense. This comes in handy because it allows him to play better than his deficiencies would suggest. He is not as rangy as you would like so his pursuit is hindered. He is not overly flexible so he plays high at times and looks out of position. Don't get me wrong, he is a solid prospect and his productivity and instincts verify it.

Chances of landing Catlin: Medium

He is open to leaving the state. KU must worry about Oklahoma State.

Favors - The best athlete of the group but I think he is a safety. He has the frame to grow into an OLB but, he can be dynamic at safety.

Chances of landing Favors: Low

When asked by Scout.com's Ahmard Vital (in a recent interview) where did he plan on visiting, since he didn't list any favorite, Favor's said, "Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M are some schools that I want to check out." He has also been to TCU and he has offers from all but Texas.
