It's that time again! For high school sophomores and juniors, it's time to hit the combine and camp circuit, and for those players from the northwest there's only one marketing workout that will be seen live by college coaches. It's the 4th Annual Barton Football / Next Step College Sports Marketing Workout, and will be held May 16th at Willamette University in Salem, Ore.
The 2008 event was a smashing success, as some 2009 recruits served notice during their workouts that they were going to be top-flight college prospects. Bo Lokombo (
Oregon
),
Gabe Linehan
(
Boise State
) and
Charles Siddoway
(California) were the headliners.
The marquee name for the 2011 class last year was
Jake Heaps
, Scout.com's No. 1 quarterback prospect from Skyline High School in Samammish, Wash. 25 offers later, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound signal-caller has narrowed his final choices to five -
BYU
,
California
,
LSU
,
Tennessee
and
Washington
. Heaps' teammate
Jase Butorac
is also expected to work out.
Last year the Bartons were the first to put
Owamagbe Odighizuwa
on the map, and the bruising 2010 DE from David Douglas High in Portland has since catapulted into the national recruiting radar, already garnering over a dozen Division-1 offers. We are anticipating another scintillating workout from Odighizuwa, as well as other Portland-area standouts
Kenneth Acker
and
Kelvin Cain
from Grant, as well as
Taylor Martinek
,
Keanon Lowe
and
Jacob Wark
from Jesuit.
This marketing workout will be a little different then in the past, as the Bartons will be offering up a testing phase. Any participant wanting to get hard numbers in the 40-yard dash, L-Drill, Vertical Jump can do so. Those results, as well as official height and weight measurements, will be sent out to colleges at every level in the country.
To find out more on the workout, the details, and the registration page to sign up, click on the link below. Online registration ends Sunday, May 10th at midnight, and there will be no walk-ups accepted - so sign up now!
