Breaking News: Scottsdale (Az.) Saguaro DE Jordan McDonald next target for Devils
Arizona State
has made Scottsdale Saguaro a staple in their recruiting the past few years, grabbing players such as
Corey Adams
,
Kody Koebensky
and
Max Smith
amongst others. The trend has not changed as the Devils offered OT
Kody Innes
a few months ago and Scout.com has just confirmed that defensive end
Jordan McDonald
was offered today.
McDonald tells us, "ASU came out to my Spring practice. They told Coach Sanders that I am a heck of a player, they like how I move and they would love to have me and offered a scholarship. I am so excited right now."
The offer did not make McDonald want to commit but ASU jumps right to the top of his list. "They are one of my top schools, them and
Fresno State
. I like how it is close to home and close to my family, I am very close to them." The Fresno State connection stems from the McDonald family growing up in California. McDonald says, "I moved here in 8th grade and we have always been big Fresno fans."
Thus far ASU, Fresno and
New Mexico
have offered the 6-4 225 pounder.
As mentioned above, ASU has signed several other Sabercats and while Jordan says it would be nice to play with his teammates, it will not be a huge factor in his choice. "I want to do what is best for me and how I fit in," he says.
I am sure Adams and company will be in his ear and one Saguaro coach already is. Former DE
Kyle Caldwell
is already "pushing for it" according to McDonald.
But Jordan has not given in to the peer pressure. "I will take some trips and see how I feel about. I will consult my family and Coach Sanders (Saguaro head man) when I decide."
Last season helping Saguaro to their third straight 4A1 state title, McDonald made 33 tackles and 3 sacks.
Here are clips of McDonald in action (#50):
