Miami CB adds offers

Scout.com's #54 overall prospect from the Sunshine state had a successful junior season, but by the looks of spring practice, even brighter days are ahead for the upcoming season.

"My junior season was good for me," added Dion Hanks. "I started every game and played against some good receivers. I did what I normally do, shut down one side of the field. I got a bunch of knockdown (passes) and good tackles. Spring practice is going good. I can now go the whole day without getting tired. My conditioning is much better this year."

College scouts have taken notice.

"UCF, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Miami, Purdue, and Florida have been by here."

Any offers come out of it?

"I got offers from UCF, Ole Miss, Purdue, and Florida is taking a hard look at me. They have not offered me yet. They want to see how my season goes. Tennessee wants to see my highlight tape. Syracuse is looking at me. They want me and Phillip Thomas to be back together. We played together at (Miami) Edison (Senior) last year."

What is Ole Miss saying?

"Coach Vaughn likes the way I play. He likes how aggressive I am. Coach wants me to really come out there and play for Ole Miss. They stay in touch with me a lot. I really want to go over there this summer to check it out."

What about UCF?

"Coach Davie likes my size (5' 11", 175) and aggressiveness. He told me that he really wants me to come down there. He said I could be another Asante Samuels."

What is Purdue saying?

"They sent Coach Carson down here and offered me. We sent some highlight tapes to them, and then they came down here and offered me. They like my aggressiveness too. They believe I can control one side of the field which will free them up in their play calling. They want me to come up to their camp too."

And Syracuse?

"They were watching Phillip Thomas' highlight tape last year, and they said they never had to worry about my side of the field. They believe I have that aggressiveness that allows them to play man to man. They trust my coverage skills. I hold one side of the field down and Phillip holds the other."

Where will the Miami resident camp at this summer?

"I am going to the UCF camp in June. I am trying to get down to Georgia. My coach is going to talk me up there. Those are the only two I know of right now."

Who would Dion like to see recruit him harder?

"Georgia. I like their style of defense. I have not spoken to them yet. They are just sending me letters."
