Lincoln High School in Portland, Ore. has produced some very good college players of late - Ethan Johnson (Notre Dame) and Jordan Polk (Washington) are but two of them. 2010 quarterback Henry Furman is looking to follow in their footsteps, and he took a big step toward that goal at the 4th Annual Barton Football / Next Step College Sports Marketing Workout, held at Willamette University.

Furman does not have any scholarship offers yet, but plans on making sure that he attends a number of different college camps and combines in the hopes that his hard work will bear fruit.

We don't believe he's related to anyone at Furman University, but happened to visit the Greenville, South Carolina-based college as a bit of an after-thought during a visit to Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. But of the three, Furman liked his namesake the best and has stayed in touch with them, planning another visit back east later in the summer.

Furman's other summer plans include camp visits to Northwestern, Yale, Virginia and the Oregon Nike camp. His favorite schools right now are Northwestern, Washington, Yale and Furman. Henry's father attended Northwestern.

"Henry Furman is a real solid QB prospect," Barton Football founder Greg Barton said. "He has all the tools necessary to play in college. He is smart, athletic, has a great arm and feet. He is also a very good baseball prospect and might be interested in playing both in college."
