Barton/NSCS Update - Luke Nelson

Luke Nelson has things lined up, and if they break his way he just might end up with some scholarship offers at the end of the summer.

For the 6-foot-1, 178-pound receiver from Shorewood High School in Shoreline, Wash., Nelson impressed as a pass-catcher, eluding the top defensive backs all day at the 4th Annual Barton Football / Next Step College Sports Marketing Workout, held Saturday at Willamette University.

Air Force, Washington State and Eastern Washington has already stopped by Shorewood High this spring, and BYU has put in a phone call. Nelson is Mormon and said that he'll go to college for one year before serving his two-year mission.

AFA, BYU and WSU currently lead for Nelson's services. After his impressive workout at Willamette, he went down to Phoenix for the Scout.com Arizona combine, where he ran a 4.25 20-yard shuttle, 7.27 L-Cone test, jumped 9'5" in the standing broad jump and 28 inches in the vertical jump.

Nelson will attend one more combine, the Nike SPARQ event at Oregon, and will visit BYU twice - once for a junior day and once for their team camp. He will also camp at Washington, and the All-Poly camp in Oahu.
