St. Clair County in Southwest Illinois is fertile ground for football talent. This year is especially loaded as Cahokia, East. St. Louis, Belleville East and others all have FBS prospects. Not to be left out, O'Fallon Township High has a prospect who is starting to make some noise himself.
De'Ron Flood is one of the top tight end prospects in the Midwest. He has great size at 6'4, 230-lbs to go along with 4.7 speed and athleticism. That combination has earned him three offers to date.
"I have three offers," he reported, "from Indiana, Kansas and Purdue."
The Boilermakers were the first school to offer Flood and as a result, they sit high on his list.
"I'd say they have been recruiting me pretty hard," Flood explained, "They have been recruiting me since the end of my sophomore year. They have been coming to the school and talking to my coaches. I'm pretty high on them."
At this point in time, Flood does not know quite as much about the other schools who have offered, but is going to work on finding out more this summer.
"I have been to Kansas. We stopped there when I went to junior day at Kansas State. We stopped just to see campus. I haven't been to Indiana, but I plan to visit on June 7th."
Flood says he is also being recruited by Iowa, Kansas State, Arkansas and most of the Big Ten. However, it is another SEC school who he is hoping to impress in a few weeks.
"On June 15th, I have a work out scheduled with Florida. I think they are pretty high on me. They just want to see me workout and get a feel for the kind of player I am."
As a junior, Flood caught 21 passes for 377 yards.
