Gunsby gets big offer
"The spring went real good for us and I thought things really turned out good when spring was over," said Jamius Gunsby. "We had some good practices, we practiced hard, and I think we got better as a team." The spring not only went good for the Grangers, but it went good for Gunsby. He saw coaches from North Carolina State, Georgia, Kentucky, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Arkansas, and many other schools come through Lagrange at one time or another. One of those schools has become the first school to officially offer him a scholarship. "Florida offered me a couple of weeks ago. They came by the school to watch me practice and then they sent me a written offer in the mail a couple of days later. They had been showing interest, but I did not think they were going to offer me like that." With that offer, the Gators have jumped to the top of Gunsby's list. "I don't know a lot about Florida because I haven't been there before, but they are now first for me because they offered," stated the 6-foot-5, 225 pound athlete. "I know they won the National Championship last year and I know they have a good program, so they are definitely high on my list. Being the first to offer has to put them on top for now." After UF, the versatile athlete listed Georgia, FSU, Clemson, Oklahoma State, and Alabama as schools of interest. He is no rush to make a decision and he wants to take part in some camps this summer to try to earn new offers. In 2008, he only played in six games and he threw for over 700 yards and 8 touchdowns for the Grangers. Gunsby said Florida offered him as a quarterback, but that a lot of schools are recruiting him as an athlete. He thinks he will end up playing quarterback or wide receiver on the next level. Kentucky, Georgia, West Virginia, and Florida State could be close to offering him too. He has heard a lot from those schools over the last few months.
