It was clear in his voice that Michael Hartvigson was excited, very excited. He called up Scout.com late Tuesday night with the news he'd been wanting to share from the first moment he entered the recruiting process; he now had his 'dream offer'. But was it enough for the 6-foot-6, 235-pound tight end/defensive end prospect from Bothell, Wash. to pull the trigger on a commitment?

"I just got off the phone with coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian), and we are dialed in!" Hartvigson told Scout.com. "He offered me!"

And in one fell swoop, the admitted UW fan put the Huskies at the top of his college wish list, over offers from Washington State, Boise State and Oregon State. A commitment was sure to follow, right?

Not so fast.

"I didn't commit," Hartvigson said. "But I am so jacked up right now. But I don't plan on committing right now. But UW is at the top of my list."

Hartvigson planned to talk to his parents about the news, and to also calm down a little bit, to let things soak in and digest for a while. "I have to get things figured out," he said, adding that he was feeling a little speechless after his conversation with the first-year head coach from Washington.

"I've been a Dawg my whole life, as long as I can remember," he said. "I like talking to coach Sarkisian. He's a fun, young guy."

While Hartvigson said there is a 'strong possibility' he could make a decision soon, he also understands the nature of a commitment, and doesn't want to be a prospect that make a pledge and then back out of it.

The Huskies have not specifically told the versatile Hartvigson what position they like him at, but ideally he said he'd like to play on offense. He had four touchdowns for Bothell last year, along with six sacks and 45 tackles on defense. He was recently timed at 4.86 in the 40.

Hartvigson is planning on going to Oregon State this weekend to check some things out, and might still go out to Stanford near the end of the month. He's also been invited to camps at California, Oregon and Penn State, but he doesn't think he'll go to any camps other than the UW Rising Stars camp on June 26th.
