Profile: Austin Shepherd
High School: North Gwinnett
Location: Suwanee, Ga.
Class: 2010
Position: Offensive Guard
Vitals: 6-5/310
Offers: Alabama and UAB.
Favorites: Committed to Alabama
My Thoughts: Shepherd is a versatile offensive lineman that could play guard or center at Alabama. He can play any of the five offensive line spots in high school, but the early graduate will likely end up at guard when he gets to Tuscaloosa. Toughness and strength are two of his biggest strengths. He gets after it on the field, he plays with good power, and he finishes his blocks well also. He is in a spread offense at North Gwinnett, so he gets more reps in pass pro than run blocking, so he will have work a little on coming off the line low, engaging into the defensive lineman, and things of that nature, but he really fits the bill nicely for a traditional Alabama OL.

Austin Shepherd is an offensive lineman out of Suwanee, Ga.
The 6-foot-5, 310 pound OL plays for Bob Sphire at North Gwinnett.
He will play a lot of right tackle, but he could play any of the five OL spots for the Bulldogs.
Shepherd has good mobility for his size.
He works on his golf swing in between reps.
The first school to offer Shepherd was Alabama and he has committed to the Crimson Tide.
He is very happy about his decision and future.
Guard will be his position under Nick Saban.
He will take a lot of power and nastiness with him to Tuscaloosa when he moves there in January 2010.
