Mitchell is Tough Up Front

Fairless Hills, Pa., product Joshua Mitchell played very strong football as a junior against dominant Philadelphia offensive linemen like Justin Pugh and Dan Shirey, so Scout.com had to check out his film to see what kind of player he was.

Joshua Mitchell is a 6-foot-1, 280-pound defensive tackle from Pennsbury High School that looks to be an excellent high school player, but summer camps will most likely determine what level he plays football at. Watching his film there were definitely some very positive things to take away, but he also needs to work on a few things as well. Mitchell is currently most interested in schools like Connecticut, Maryland, Penn State, Rutgers, Villanova and Temple.

Mitchell is a bit undersized, but has a powerful lower body, uses leverage very well and is a strong run defender. You can see his wrestling background in his play as he uses his hands well to shed defenders when penetrating and also keeps linemen off his body when playing two-gap. Overall, he is very stout at the point of attack and plays his butt off, but does lack ideal athleticism.
