As camp season begins, players are adding offers and starting to head to the 1-days. Here are some updates from around region.
Illinois DE Has Two More
Morris Community High defensive end
Kevin Henry
reported his latest offers to us yesterday.
"I received two more offers," he reported, "I now have offers from
Indiana
,
Toledo
,
Central Michigan
and
Northern Illinois
."
The Huskies and Chippewas are the latest to offer the 6'5, 255-lb Henry. The NIU offer came after a visit to the school. In the coming weeks, he will camp at Illinois,
Stanford
,
Purdue
and
Wisconsin
.
First BCS Offer for Indy Receiver
One name we have been tracking ever since his outstanding performance at the New Level Athletics/BadgerSport passing camp in Columbus is
Anthony McClung
. The Indianapolis Pike wideout is beginning to shed his sleeper tag. A few weeks back, he received his first offer, from
Illinois State
. Yesterday, the 6'0, 165-lb McClung added his first BCS offer as
Ball State
offered him following his standout performance at their camp.
Graham Has Another
Wheaton North (Ill.) quarterback
Taylor Graham
reported to us that
UCLA
has offered him. The 6'4, 215-lber now has seven offers: the Bruins,
Michigan State
, Wisconsin,
Colorado
,
Duke
,
Arkansas
and
Iowa
.
Garrett Close to More
Indianapolis Ben Davis cornerback
Jeffery Garrett
is closing in on offers. The 5'9, 165-lb cornerback camped at Ball State yesterday and believes an offer from the Cardinals is close behind. He will camp at Illinois on the 15th and Iowa on the 20th and has been told by both programs that an offer is a strong possibility if he continues to show well at these events.
Sayed Proves His Speed
After catching everything in sight the pass two seasons and at camps, many have wondered what Dearborn Fordson (Mich.) wide receiver
Baquer Sayed
needs to do to earn more offers. The 6'2, 185-lb Sayed has two, from Ball State and
Ohio
, but many believe it is his speed which is the lone question mark holding him back...until now. This weekend, he camped at both
Akron
and Central Michigan and Scout.com analyst Bill Greene reported that he was the best player at the Akron camp. He also answered those speed questions by running a 4.53 at Akron and a 4.52 at CMU. It is believed that he is close to offers from both programs.
