UA commit camps at Georgia
"I have been to Tennessee, Alabama, and now Georgia for camps, so I have gotten a lot of work in," said Blake Sims. Tennessee was where he shined last week getting some work in at quarterback and wide receiver for Lane Kiffin's Vols. Next up was Alabama and he traveled over there on Sunday for Alabama's first camp of this summer. Sims liked working for the Alabama coaching staff. "I really like the coaches over at Alabama and they were pretty intense during the camp. I worked hard over there and I think I had a real good camp." "I got to play everywhere over there and Coach [Nick] Saban looked at me at quarterback a little bit too. I am set now on playing another position though, so I worked at corner, safety, and receiver most of the time. I think I had a real good camp." He has camped at Georgia before, so he knew what to expect when he got to Athens. The coaches moved him around and he picked up on some stuff at new positions. "I learned some new stuff to help me at wide receiver and defensive back at Georgia," said the 6-foot, 195 pound athlete out of Gainesville, Ga. "I worked on my cuts at safety and getting out of my breaks at receiver. I think I did pretty good at Georgia. I made some nice catches and I picked off three passes." "The coaches kind of fought over me a little on both sides of the ball, so that was cool. I think I did better at safety though. I had more energy over there I think. I reacted to the ball real well too." So did this camp in Athens effect Sims commitment to the Crimson Tide at all? "I am solid to Alabama, but Georgia still has a chance," Sims answered. "I am very comfortable with the Alabama staff, I felt real good over there, and I think they can get me into the NFL. I still have interest in Georgia, but I felt very good at Alabama this week." He plans to be back in Tuscaloosa in July for an unofficial visit. Chad Simmons is the Recruiting Analyst for the South Region and he can be reached at ChadSimmons@Scout.com.
