Hubbard (Ohio) safety
Kurtis Drummond went north for two consecutive visits on Monday and Tuesday and came away with two leaders.
"I'd say from what I've visted,
Michigan and
Michigan State are the top two," he reported.
The Wolverines were first up, on Monday. Drummond dropped in during the middle of the Wolverines' summer camp and while he didn't work out, he did get to see the campus, meet the coaches and other staff at the school.
"I really liked the academic advisor (Shari Acho) at Michigan," he said, "and I liked the facilities and the coaches."
Then it was over to East Lansing.
"I liked it," he said of MSU, "I got a tour of the campus and facilities. I met with the strength coach the academic advisor and some players and they showed me some film of the things they do."
While he has these favorites, Drummond says he wants to take his official visits and thus, would not make a commitment until during or after the fall season.
Iowa Offers Michigan Lineman
One quickly rising prospect in the region is Sterling Heights Stevenson offensive lineman
Carl Davis. The 6'5, 300-lb Davis came into the week with offers from
Central Michigan and
Indiana and added another yesterday.
"Iowa offered me," he reported, "It was a great camp. I did very well."
Davis also camped at Central Michigan and
Kentucky and plans to also head to Michigan State this Saturday.
Pettus Has His First
Melvindale cornerback
Wayne Pettus has done well for himself this spring. He won defensive back MVP at the NIKE Camp in Illinois and has performed well at college camps. His performance at the Michigan summer camp this week earned him an offer from another staff who was present.
"Central Michigan offered me," Pettus said, "and my coach said Iowa was going to offer me but the head coach said he needed to see me play first. My coach said since the combine, he's been getting tons of calls from all over the country."
Pettus is looking at continuing his camp trips soon, saying
UCLA has invited him to the west coast, although he has not decided yet if he will make the trek.
Kentucky Camp Draws Some of Indiana's Best
A few Indiana players went down to Kentucky and performed well at their camp. Zionsville linebacker
Jack Denton, Pike wide receiver
Anthony McClung, Warren Central cornerback
Brian Sutton and Broad Ripple running back
Martell Baker all turned in fine performances which could lead to offers from the Wildcats.
McClung recently received his first BCS offer, from
Ball State. Baker has reported that he is close to offers from
Eastern Michigan as well as the Wildcats.
