“Maryland said if I came to camp and ran well and did my thing then they would probably offer. So I went to camp, ran pretty well and did my thing in the drills and one-on-ones, and they offered,” says an excited local star.
Atholton (MD) two-way standout
Matt Robinson
had been looking forward towards his June camp at
Maryland
for a long time now. Not just because he had a chance to show his stuff to a very local Division I school, but he also had a chance to walk away with an offer.
“Early on in the spring evaluation period Maryland said that they loved my film and stuff but they wanted me to come up to camp before anything official happened. I just heard if I ran well and did well at their camp then they would offer. So I went to camp, ran pretty well and did my thing in the drills and one-on-ones, and they offered. I met with Coach (Ralph) Friedgen and my Dad after the camp and they told me that I had the offer.”
The Maryland offer is not Robinson’s first, however it does have special meaning to him.
“I was so happy,” says Robinson, “to finally get a big time ACC school to come and offer, especially that hometown school, it’s nice.”
It is not clear what position Maryland wants Robinson to play, but early reports were that they wanted him at Safety.
Pittsburgh
is also giving Robinson a chance to show his stuff in camp, but they are looking at him as more of an H-back type of player.
Keep posted to Scout.com for an update on Robinson’s performance at the Pitt camp.
