The Scout.com Pre-season State Rankings for the Class of 2010 will be released through the end of this week. Today, state rankings for Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, and the Mid-Atlantic are unveiled.
The
Mid-Atlantic Top 30
, which consists of Maryland, Washington D.C., and Delaware, also includes a large portion of committed players at the top with four of the top already committed.
"The Mid-Atlantic Region is dominated by the state of Maryland as 17 of the region's top 20 players hail from Maryland and three being from the District of Columbia," said Scout.com North manager Bob Lichtenfels. "
Adrian Coxson
has proved in film and at combines that he deserves to be the area's top ranked prospect. The Penn State pledge put on a show at the Scout.com Baltimore combine. Dunbar (D.C.) outside linebacker
Javarie Johnson
is the top rated player in Washington, D.C. and A.I. DuPont cornerback C.J. Jones takes the top spot from Delaware."
Kyle Prater
The nation's top wide receiver prospect highlights the
Illinois Top 50
, and he heads up what is turning out to be a very deep state in the Land of Lincoln.
"There are already over 50 players with offers and many more who are capable of earning them," said Scout.com Midwest analyst Allen Trieu. "Of course, there is star power at the top with the nation's top wide receiver
Kyle Prater
as well as big time prospects like
C.J. Fiedorowicz
and
Christian Lombard
.
"There are also a few guys who have moved way up and could continue to do that.
Bruce Gaston
,
Laken Tomlinson
and
Mark Lenkiewicz
are just three examples of guys who have been picking up offer after offer recently."
V.J. Fehoko
Heading off-shore to the
Hawai'i Top 25
,
V.J. Fehoko
follows fellow Hawaiian Manti Te'o as one of the nation's top linebackers.
"Kahuku strong man V.J. Fehoko earns the top spot in the Aloha State, but there's enough top talent to turn it into a real horse race," said Scout.com Northwest analyst Chris Fetters. "Fehoko's recent showing at the All-Poly Camp in Utah should put to rest any fears that he's a 'tweener and can't play linebacker in college."
According to Fetters, there were a number of players in the running to be Aloha's top dog.
"Kahuku defensive end
Kona Schwenke
, Mililani wide receiver and safety
Taz Stevenson
, Leilehua's
Andrew Manley
and the Kapolei one-two punch of
Shaydon Akuna
and
Dustin Elisara
are all players that are going to make a significant impact when they get to their colleges of choice. And because Hawaii is three hours away from even the west coast, players continue to emerge during the evaluation period; Kapolei's
Tuu Lolohea
(transfer from Radford), Iolani's Sealii Epanesa, Aiea's
Lawrence Lagafuaina
, Moanalua's
Frank Loyd
(a Hawai'i verbal commit) and Maui's
Elvis Matagi
are just the latest to pop up on the recent recruiting radar, and expect more to come out of the woodwork as we get closer to the fall regular season."
Timothy Patterson
The
Kentucky Top 10
is led at the top by Louisville Central defensive end
Timothy Patterson
, though wide receiver teammate
Stephan Robinson
and Simon Kenton running back
Miles Simpson
are not too far behind in the Bluegrass State.
"Patterson is a long, lean force off the edge with unlimited potential," said Lichtenfels. "Patterson is followed by a pair of speed merchants in Simpson and Robinson. Recent Tennessee commit and jumbo-athlete Channing Fugate (Breathitt County) and tight end Tate Nichols (Rye) round out the top five."
