Miami RB will make a late decision

The 5' 8", 165 pound scat back out of Archbishop Carroll is in the middle of summer conditioning

"Things are going really good right now," added Jeff Scott. "I wake up on Monday through Thursday at 5:30 am in the morning and go to the weight room. Monday through Thursday I left weights and run. Friday through Sunday I just relax and let my body heal."

A lot of players are taking in different college camps this summer but Scott is taking a different route.

"I am just training with my teammates, relaxing, and staying focused. I am not going to attend any camps this summer."

Jeff has only been to one campus so far and it was to a local university.

"The only campus I have been to see is FIU and that is it. They are an up and coming program. I got a chance to meet some of the recruits from last year's class and the incoming class. They have a pretty good team coming up, and everything other than football, they are making their stadiums bigger and the weight rooms nicer. They have really nice dorm rooms. It is like an apartment where you have three bedrooms in it. It was really nice. They are going to add on to their football facilities this year too. Everything is new and nice over there."

Jeff rushed for over 1, 800 yards and 23 TD's as a junior and earned 2nd Team All-State status. Several colleges have taken notice.

"FIU, Troy, Ole Miss, and Colorado State are recruiting me the hardest right now. Basically the schools who have offered me are coming after me the hardest. And the teams that I like that are close to offering me are Tennessee and Kansas State. Northern Illinois offered me like two weeks ago too."

The Rebels formally extended their scholarship offer last week.

"They want to play me as a true freshman. They did not promise me a starting spot, but they think I am a big piece of the puzzle because of my speed. They want me to return kicks and punts and play some tailback. I feel good about playing special teams and running back. I want to be an every down back, but they said I would be sharing the carries. I do not want to share the load with another back, but I do not want to go to college and be given anything either. I want to go to college and earn it, and they told me I will have to work my way up. Northern Illinois is the only school that has been talking to me about being an every down back. The rest of the schools said I would be sharing the carries. Colorado State has not really talked about it yet, but Ole Miss, Colorado State, and FIU are the ones I know for sure that I will take an official visit to because they are recruiting me the hardest."

What is going on with Colorado State?

"I talk to their coaches a lot, and they just told me how they love my speed. We have not just sat down and talked about how they are going to use me in their system, but I will see about that when I go up there for my visit."

Who is showing the most love right now?

"FIU, like I said, I went on a visit there and they told me how important I would be in their system. They want me to play running back or slot. FIU and Ole Miss are looking for smaller RB's with a lot of speed. FIU brought their head coach, offensive coordinator, running back coach, wide receiver coach, and their offensive line coach to come see me practice. That showed me a lot that they really needed me."

The Vols are also showing a lot of interest.

"I was supposed to fly up there on June 18th for a camp. Their RB coach likes me a lot, and they wanted the rest of the staff to see me, but I had someone from my family pass away the day before, and I had to go to the funeral so I did not get a chance to go. My coach said for sure I was going to get an offer. I have not talked to them since I missed that camp so I do not know if they are upset at me or not."

Kansas State is also showing a lot of interest.

"Same thing with Kansas State, they have been continuing to send me handwritten letters. I talked to their coach a couple of weeks ago, but I have not heard back from them. I am guessing they are going to watch my highlight tape and go over it. The same thing happened with Ole Miss. They saw it and then offered me."

Jeff is not in a hurry to make a decision.

"I talked to my dad about it, and he wants me to relax and take my time. I do not think I will decide until signing day. I am not sure."
