Jacksonville 1-on-1 WR MVP: Sean Tapley

Pro Impact Sports hosted a one-on-one camp in Jacksonville last week for the top skill position players in northeast Florida and several quality wide receivers were there.

Approximately 30 wide receivers worked out last Thursday night in Jacksonville for the Pro Impact Sports 1-on-1 camp. The players had a chance to catch a lot of balls to many of the area's top quarterbacks.

As voted by a panel of former NFL players and myself, Sean Tapley was given the WR MVP award at the event.

At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, Tapley flat out knows how to play the position. He was catching balls all over the place. At one point, it was almost like he was catching tennis balls with one hand the way he was bringing in balls. His ball skills are as good as you'll see at this level. He has ideal size and while he doesn't have blazing speed, he's plenty fast enough to be a big time player at the college level.

Tapley's ability to run routes is excellent and he can beat you a couple different ways off the line. If you come up to jam him, he'll win most of those physical battles. He can also make you miss in a hurry with exceptional feet.

He caught 29 passes for 494 yards and four scores as a junior last season and he proved once again that he's one of the state's premier wide receiver prospects for the Class of 2010.

With almost 20 scholarship offers, Tapley is wide open with the recruiting process. He committed to South Carolina after they offered him at their camp last summer but he's since backed off that pledge and is now also considering offers from schools like Miami, Ole Miss, and Purdue among others.
