East Stroudsburg South High School linebacker Sam Bergen has bounced back from a torn ACL that ended…
Bergen Proves Himself Camping
East Stroudsburg High School linebacker Sam Bergen has a great blend of size and strength and after the first three games of his senior year he could have a number of programs sending him written offers after seeing that his knee is back to normal. "I have camped at Pittsburgh, Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan, Stanford and Rutgers so far this summer," Bergen said. "This weekend I'll be going to Michigan State and that will be my last camp of the summer. I didn't pick up any offers while I was out there, but I think when teams see my first few games things will change." "My knee feels great and I've been able to do everything on it," Bergen explained. "All of the coaches were really impressed with how far I've come along so quickly considering the injury and I think I quieted a lot of worries that they had with that. The big thing with the ACL is that confidence with hitting though, so that's why I think teams are waiting to see how I react to my first few games." "Most of the camps were just a few hours and I enjoyed all of them. It really felt good to get back into doing a lot of football after the layoff. I really all of the schools I went to and to get an offer from any one of those schools would be great. It's a relief when you go to so many camps and can come away and actually say that you would be thrilled to go to any of those schools. That's not something that I expected." Bergen just maxed out in the bench recently and did a ridiculous 20 reps of 225 pounds. Those are NFL Combine worthy numbers.
