Joe Lofton makes decision

Asst. Regional Manager
Posted Jul 11, 2009

Joe Lofton, cornerback from Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., has ended the recruiting process. Lofton talked with about his decision.

"I committed to Troy on Wednesday," said Joe Lofton. "I talked to coach [Jeremy] Rowell, the defenisve coordinator and defensive backs coach. I told him I had made up my mind and was ready to commit."

"He told me he is happy to have me be a part of the program and looking forward to coaching me. He recruited me to play cornerback."

Lofton more about the reasons for committing to the Trojans.

"I already liked the school and the campus," he said. "I looked up the football program and liked it, but why I felt I needed to commit early is because you aren't promised to have the offer for a long time."

"I felt it was too good of an chance to let slip by, so I went ahead and commited."

"I like the fact they send a lot of players to the NFL. They are also known for having good DBs [defensive backs]."

"I only got a chance to spend one-on-one time with coach Rowell who's about as good as they get. I'm sure I will like the rest of the staff as well."

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect recorded 42 tackles and one interception during the 2008 season.
