It is the middle of the summer, so it is time to get caught up on who has offers from who as we talk…
17 Offers To Date
Certain schools get reputation as a quarterback school, running back school, receivers, or whatever they tend to turn out. North of Houston in Klein ISD, Klein Forest High School has always had a reputation as a defensive school. They produce countless numbers of division one prospects year after year. This year one player is already committed from their defense in Cameron Nwosu, who committed to Rice. Two more have division offers including Adrian Bennett. However one player has 17 offers so far and from some high quality programs in the country. Coach Kenny Hammock of Klein Forest HS describes Damian Payne as an "athlete" and not as a defensive back. He was a second team all-district player last year and is one of five returning starters this year. Last year the team went 9-2 and was co-district Champions. In Coach Hammock's five years the team has gone 40-16 so they have seen some talent go through their ranks. Still, players who rack up the number of offers by mid-summer are a rarity even for Klein Forest. According to Coach Hammock, Payne has 17 offers to date. "Damian Payne has been offered by Missouri, Stanford, Wake Forest, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Kansas, New Mexico, Utah, UTEP, North Texas, TCU, Houston, Arizona, and Baylor", according to Coach Hammock. An impressive list to say the least and the offes are still coming in. The choices are many for Payne and his play will continue to draw the offers.
