Five To Fancy

Fresh of a big win at the Nike National 7-on-7 tournament in Oregon, Corvin Lamb likes his team. Coming of a loss to Seminole High in the 2008 Florida 6A title game, the Bulls are ready to get the bitter taste of unfulfilled expecations out of their mouths. The win in Eugene on a national stage was a step in the right direction as far as Lamb is concerned.

"I don't think I am going to go anywhere else this summer," said Corvin of any camp plans. "I am thinking about just working out with my team and getting ready for the season. Everybody is back now, so we can all start working together again. After winning the tournament, I feel like we have some momentum."

Lamb believes the trip to the Pacific northwest was a valuable experience for the sunshine staters.

"After the tournament I feel real good about everything," said the talented running back. "As long as we all work hard and stay humble we should have a good season. We want to get back to the state championship and win it this time."

Following his team's run into the post-season, Corvin plans to select a college that will help him on and off the field. To date five schools appear to be pulling away from the pack.

"LSU, North Carolina, Mississippi State, Rutgers and Michigan are the main ones right now. Those are sort of my top five," said Lamb. "I am still looking some at West Virginia, UCF and USF and a few other schools, but those five are the ones I am focusing on right now."

Corvin has found something he likes about all five of the schools in his list of favorites.

LSU - "I haven't talked to them about an offer lately. They gave me a number to call, but I have been real busy. We just got back, so I am going to call them soon. They have a great program there."

North Carolina - "I talked to one of their scouts before we left to go to Oregon and he wanted to know if I still had interest in them and I told him I did. I like what they are putting together up there."

Mississippi State - "Mississippi State is a school on the rise. They have Dan Mullen from Florida now and he knows about running a powerful offense. That would be a good move for me or anybody else."

Rutgers - "Rutgers has liked me from the beginning and that's something I think about. They were showing me interest early and I like that about them."

Michigan - "There is so much to like about Michigan it's tough to really say it all. They have a lot of tradition and I just like everything about Michigan."

Lamb reports that he is going to be very deliberate in his decision making process and that he wants to do a thorough review of all of his contenders before making a decision.

"I want to take some visits during the season," said Corvin. "I want to go some games and see everything. I will start narrowing things down during the season and I will commit some time close to signing day."
