A pair of WAC schools have put Banning (Calif.) defensive back Derron Smith at a half-dozen offers...

Banning (Calif.) athlete Derron Smith picked up fifth and sixth offers in the past few weeks, and both came from the WAC.

"He has received offers from Idaho and Nevada," said Banning coach John Stockham.

The Vandals and Pack join New Mexico State, Nebraska, UNLV and San Diego State in offering Smith.

As a 2008 junior at Banning, Smith was named Defensive MVP of the Mountain Pass League and Team MVP. He was named First Team All-CIF and All-Area Honorable Mention and Second Team All-State Underclass.

He rushed for 1,094 yards and eight touchdowns, passed for 1,214 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, he had 87 tackles, nine for loss, three interceptions and a touchdown.
