Kinnard to Enroll in January
Leon Kinnard suffered an injury during his senior season and then recently had surgery to fix an unrelated injury. Kinnard has been rehabbing and working out and will be ready to enroll at Connecticut this January. "I had hurt my ankle this year and that delayed hip surgery I was going to have after the season," said Kinnard. "I had my hip surgery about three months ago. I am ahead of schedule in my rehab. I will be grey shirting and enrolling at Connecticut in January. I have been working out hard and getting ready for my freshman year. I can start lifting with my legs in about three weeks." Although it isn't the path Kinnard would have chosen he realizes some benefits of starting college in mid-year. "We have a new offensive coordinator that is bringing a more wide open offense and it gives me time to prepare and learn more. I can come in the spring and learn the system. It is like being a high school senior still except I get to go up before they do." Kinnard was asked what position he will play and if the injury has changed his future role at Connecticut. "I am still playing quarterback. The injury just gave me more time to learn the offense. They sent me my playbook and quarterback workout so I am ahead of schedule with that." Next month Kinnard will start classes at a community college. He will transfer those credits to Connecticut in January.
