Singer Attends Big Dawg Camp
Ryan Singer profile "It was a lot of fun," said Ryan of the Big Dawg Camp. "I had a real good time there. I feel like I was one of the top five quarterbacks there." Singer was not a follower of Mississippi State football until this season. Ryan began paying attention to the goings on in Starkville after Dan Mullen arrived. "I like Dan Mullen," said Ryan matter of factly. "He was at Friday Night Lights at Florida last year and I got to meet him then. I like how he coaches quarterbacks, so when he went to Mississippi State I started getting interested in them." The chance to standout and break from the pack was something Singer was hopeful he could do on Friday. He reports the signal callers were put through a battery of tests before they had the chance to throw the ball around Davis Wade Stadium. "There were about 20 QBs or so there," said Ryan. "They split us up into two groups and we went to different stations doing different drills. "Then we went to the one-on-ones and started throwing to the receivers with the defense on them." The level of talent in attendance stood out to the Sunshine stater. "There was a lot of talent there on both sides of the ball," said Ryan. "It was a real good experience for me. There were lots of good quarterbacks, receivers and corners. We had a lot of fun with each other." Singer learned of the camp through a member of his family who has been helping him look for college opportunities. "My uncle called to see what the situation was at Mississippi State and if they were looking to take a quarterback this year," said Ryan. "They told him they were and they wanted me to come on out to the camp this past weekend." At the conclusion of the event the 6-4, 185 pounder got a little face time with one of the coaches who will help make the decisions about quarterbacks in Starkville. "I had the chance to talk with Coach Koenning after the camp and I told him I appeciated the opportunity," said Singer. "He told me that I did well and they he wants me to keep in touch with him, so I am going to do that." The rising senior currently has offers from Western Michigan and Presbyterian. He is also receiving interest from Florida Atlantic, Florida International and Central Florida.
