Alabama LB Names Top Three
Chris Hughes profile "First practice is August 3rd," said Chris. "We have meet the Warriors tomorrow night. I am real excited about that. I am ready for the season. We all are. We have a lot of seniors coming back, so we should be pretty good this year." Hughes reports he worked hard this summer and most of his teammates joined him nearly everyday in an effort to get bigger, faster and stronger. "Workouts have been good, but not as good as they could have been," said Chris. "We set high expectations. We had better numbers going to workouts this year, but not as good as we wanted. We had a few guys miss some workouts. Some people are afraid of the work, but I like the work. I want the chance to get better." A strong work ethic and a nose for the football are two of the key reasons why several schools have extended a scholarship offer to the talented Hughes. Of those offers three schools have emerged as leaders. "There are three schools I am really looking at and they are Clemson, Mississippi State and Ole Miss," said Chris. "Clemson has good coaches and they are recruiting me hard. I know Brandon Maye. He stays in touch with me and he tells me a lot about the program. He seems to like it up there. "Mississippi State treated me like I was a top prospect at their camp. I really like the area up there. I talk to Coach Mullen on the phone all of the time. He is pretty much the coach that is recruiting me. He tells me to stay on top of my grades and things like that. "I have seen Ole Miss on TV. I don't know too much about them, but I am trying to learn more about them. I like Coach Houston Nutt. He is a real good coach." The three schools still have time to make their sales pitches to Chris. He was contemplating closing things out in the next few weeks, but those plans have changed. "I thought about making a decision before the season, but I am not comfortable with that right now," said Hughes. "I am just not ready to decide. I want to wait until the season and take a few more visits, before I do anything."
