The two time All-Region selection received a scholarship offer from the Rebels after reporting in at 6' 6", 332 and running an eye popping 4.89 short shuttle, which was easily the camp's best for all of the linemen.
The Ole Miss offensive line coach, Mike Markuson, extended the scholarship offer to Jared Duke shortly after he left the Ole Miss Sr Camp to go back home. Jared was intrigued enough to come back to Oxford for a second visit last week. He brought his family with him, and as the old saying goes, now the rest is history.
"I just fell in love with Oxford and Ole Miss on my visit," added Jared. "Believe it or not, that was the first time I had ever stepped foot on their campus was for their Sr camp. It just had that homey feeling, and I wanted my family to get to see it for themselves. I took them over there a few days ago, and they fell in love with it too, so there was no reason for me to wait around. Louisville is also a great school, but Ole Miss was the better fit for me. Coach Markuson's track record speaks for itself, so it was just a good fit for me, all around."
Jared is the second offensive lineman to commit to the Rebels for the Class of 2010, as offensive center Evan Swindall is on the Oxford campus and will take a greyshirt. The Rebels are expected to ink a total of five offensive linemen.
