Bennett on the Move
Trevon Bennett has just started practice for his new school and he is already making an impact. Bennett recently transferred from Paul VI high school in Virginia. The Riverdale Baptist players and coaches are glad he did. "The commute from our house in Maryland to Paul VI in Virginia was just too hard for my mother and my siblings," said Bennett. "It didn't allow them to do the extra-curricular activities they wanted to do and get me back and forth every day. I really like it here and I think we will have a very good team." Bennett is being recruited as a quarterback but will also play defense for Riverdale Baptist. "I will start at quarterback and I will play the strong safety/outside linebacker positions for our 4-4 defense. Sometimes I will rush; sometimes I will drop in coverage." Several schools have been impressed with Bennett so far. "I have been hearing from North Carolina, Richmond, James Madison and Morgan State. I also like South Florida and West Virginia. It would be a dream to play down south more. A school like South Florida would be great. I love the south." Bennett is busy during two a days right now and is looking forward to the season. He does have an idea about what will be important to him with his college choice. "The academics and being strong in my major will be important. The graduation rate amongst football players is important. I want a strong program overall with coaches that support the players in being well rounded individuals. Last is the location. I do want to get away to experience a different area with different people." Bennett reports a 3.0 GPA and is taking the SAT in September.
