Pitt Still Contacting Irving

Glen Mills, Pa., product Marcellus Irving has been in constant contact with a handful of schools over the summer and it sounds like the first few games of his senior season will play a big part in how quickly he starts to accumulate scholarship offers.

Marcellus Irving, a 5-foot-9, 193-pound athlete from Garnet Valley High School got his camps out of the way very early this summer and the coaches from those schools have still be in contact with him on a weekly basis.

“I camped at Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Villanova, Pennsylvania and Temple this summer, but I got those all out of the way really early,” Irving said. “I’ve been talking to Penn a lot lately, keep in touch with Pittsburgh consistently and now Kent State is talking to me a lot. Another local school I talk to quite a bit is Villanova, so things have been active.”

“Pitt called my father and talked about my transcripts with him. They seem really interested, but they definitely need to see my senior film first, so I’m just going to go out and show my skills off this season. The ultimate goal is to help my team win to be honest with you, but I know that a part of that will be me showcasing my talents on the field. I’d definitely be excited about Pitt because they’re my favorite school that I’ve visited so far, so I’ll do my thing this season and hopefully things will come around with them. I know a lot of schools will be watching my first few games to make decisions.”

Irving was named second-team All-League and honorable mention All-County as a tight end as a junior.
