One of the top unsigned cornerbacks in NorCal last year was Rashad Adams, who played at Sacramento (Calif.) Inderkum.
Adams came up just short in his academics, so he’s decided to go the Prep School route.
“I’m going to the Milford Academy in New York,” said Adams. “I just need to get my grades up and then I can accept a scholarship. I wanted to go to a prep school so I can leave in December and sign somewhere and not have to go to a J.C.”
Adams said he plans to be at Milford for only a semester and will be part of a Milford team that will play JC squads at Army, Navy, Princeton and South Alabama.
“We’ll play some good schools so I should have a good chance to be seen,” said Adams. “I gave my coach there a list of the schools I’m interested in playing for. A lot of schools have been calling him, interested in me.”
Adams said he’s currently 5-10, 178, but wants to be up to 185 by the time the season starts.
Milford began their fall practices last weekend and Adams said he’d be competing for a starting position.
In terms of where he wants to play in college, he’s wide open.
“I’ll play in the ACC, SEC, the Big 12, the WAC or the Pac-10,” said Adams. “Really, I’ll play anywhere, it doesn’t matter to me. If the school is good and willing to offer me, I’ll be very interested. I’d like to stay closer to the West Coast and be by my family but I’m open to anything.”
Some of the schools that Adams has interest in include Florida, Clemson, Mississippi State, Iowa and Maryland along with Cal, Fresno State and San Diego State.
