When I got Alex Hines' highlights, I watched and thought to myself, another good Indiana high school…
Hines Looking to Impress this Season
Fishers takes on Noblesville in their opener on Friday and no one on the team knows the importance of a good start more than quarterback Alex Hines. Hines is hoping to lead his team deep into the playoffs this year, while at the same time, figuring out his recruitment. These first few weeks of the season will go a long way in determining that. "I have to go out and have a good season," he said, "A lot of these schools want to see the first three games and they will contact me after that." An outstanding student, Hines is being recruited by many of the Ivy League schools. He also continues to hear from MAC schools like Ball State and Bowling Green. This week, Michigan invited him to a game later in the year. To this point, Hines does not have a scholarship offer yet, but knows where he stands. "I went to camps and Bowling Green was one of the ones I was at. They had two kids that were about 6'6 and real good. With throwing, I felt I was on their level, I just didn't have their height. They told me they offered those kids and if they don't commit there, then they will get back to me." Hines has worked hard this season and has added size, now up to 6-1, 180-lbs. He knows that extra strength he has added will only help him this season and beyond. "Everything is good. The first game is this week and the recruiting stuff is starting to pick up."
