A stocky 5'9, 200-lb kid with a powerful lower body, Giorgio Bowers just looks like a running back. He plays like it too.
Bowers rushed for 1,054 yards as a junior and has been timed as fast as 4.52 in the forty yard dash. Even with all those numbers, the offers were slow to come. Currently, he stands with three FBS offers: Northern Illinois, Akron and Bowling Green and there are a number of other schools in contact.
"Cincinnati told me via e-mail that they were very interested. I went to Iowa State's camp and Purdue said they want to see some early season film."
Another school who is interested is Kentucky, who Bowers camped with.
"I went down there and had a real good day and they told me they would be in contact with me. They had a real nice campus and Lexington is a beautiful town."
Bowers knows the first few games of the season will be important and he is going to make sure colleges know and see what he accomplishes.
"I'm going to put together a tape and send it out to Iowa State, Purdue, Illinois, Colorado and Kentucky."
While the process has been somewhat frustrating for Bowers, he knows there is a long way until February and he still has many options that could present themselves.
"Things are alright. I've been in contact with some coaches, so we'll see what happens."
