Now that two-a-days are ending, the season draws closer and closer. For Navarro Junior College OT, Robert Griffin, the first game is the only thing on his mind.
"Practice is going good," stated
Robert Griffin
. "We just finished two-a-days. We have a big scrimmage coming up and then our first game."
How does the talented Texas product feel about his progression during the off-season?
"I feel confident. It's all about preparation. We've put in the work. We've done the hard part. Now it's time to focus on playing."
Griffin was highly recruited out of high school collecting interest from many of the top schools in the country including
UCLA
, Texas,
Texas A&M
and
Oklahoma
. After failing to qualify, the talented OL found a home at Navarro Junior College.
"Junior College has been a blessing for me. My coach always tells me it's a second chance. Lots of people don't get second chances. I've learned to take my academics seriously and to make this time count."
There is no doubt that Griffin is "making it count". Recruiting hasn't slowed down at all.
"I have offers from
Baylor
,
Kansas
and
Oklahoma State
.
Ole Miss
and
Arkansas
are close to offering. Ole Miss called me and told me that they would offer me after they got done reviewing my tape. Arkansas wants me to come visit and talk about a scholarship. All of those schools are recruiting me hard. They are always calling to check on me. So far recruiting is going great. I'm just waiting for the season to play out."
What will the talented JUCO OT look for in a school?
"I'm looking for a school that has a winning tradition. I don't want to go anywhere and lose. Ole Miss and Oklahoma State both have winning programs. Baylor is a school on the rise."
Griffin plans to graduate in December allowing him to enroll for Spring practice in 2010.
