Despite his limited amount of time at the varsity level, tight end Justin Rigg opened some eyes…
Scout's Take: Minnesota OL commit
What to Like: He's a massive kid who is very strong and has the ability to simply push people out of the way. When he locks on in the running game, he can drive defenders straight into the ground. He plays with a low center of gravity and plays with a lot of lower body strength. He's a very good straight-ahead run blocker at this age who also has experience playing on the defensive line. He also comes from one of the state's most talented programs and so he should be used to seeing strong competition day in and day out. What may concern you: At 6-feet, he lacks ideal height and at 320 pounds, he could afford to trim down some. He's able to utilize that in high school by dominating smaller players but he'll need to develop better technique, better footwork, and better overall work habits if he'll want to continue that success at the Big 10 level. Bottom Line: The Gophers are trying to get in the state of Florida very hard and by taking the commitment from Willis, it shows that they're committed to going into the Muck and being proactive in offering some of its top prospects. It's a great area to get players from and they were the first to offer him a scholarship. It'll be interesting to see if the commitments gets other Pahokee or Muck players to follow-up with interest, a visit, or a possible commitment.
