Scout's Take: Rutgers LB commit
What to Like: Thompson's got ideal size for a linebacker prospect at 6-2 and 220 pounds and he can really bring it. He's a big hitter who has flashed that ability in the past. And when he's 220 pounds and bringing it the way he does, it makes a big impact. He also has a pretty good understanding of the game from his LB position from having played running back for most of his football career. He was a solid inside runner on offense through his junior season. What may concern you: He doesn't have blazing speed and he's not a real proven player at the LB position. He was injured for a good part of his junior season and has never played like he'd be considered a major college prospect. He's displayed his skills at camp and has a lot of major Division 1 tools to work with but now he just has to put it together on Friday nights. Bottom Line: Thompson played through his junior season at South Plantation, where he doubled as a running back and linebacker. Some believe he has better skills to play RB in college but he's being recruited to play linebacker. Rutgers offered him after watching him compete at their camp and he committed a very short time later.
