The 6' 4", 295 pound defensive tackle out of Bourgeois (LA) High had a breakout junior season where he collected 97 tackles and 8 sacks. This season he is looking for even bigger numbers.

"Even though I had a big junior season I want to improve my numbers to help my team out," added Damien Jacobs. "I have not set any numbers, but I want them to be higher than last year."

Jacobs feels like he has improved in several different areas to help him take the next step.

"I have improved in a lot of different areas. My speed, strength, agility, all that. I worked hard all off season to become a more complete player."

Jacobs spent the summer touring different colleges that are interested in him.

"I went to Tennessee's camp, Auburn's camp, LSU's camp, and FSU's camp."

The highlights from each camp were?

"I liked FSU because of their location and the classrooms are all in the same building. Auburn, I liked their staff. Tennessee was OK, I guess. LSU, I did not get a lot of detail about them because I was at the camp. I just drove straight to the football field and went home right after the camp. I did not do any touring around like I did at the other schools."

The top schools on Jacob's list are?

"Pretty much all of the schools who have offered me (FSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Nebraska, and Tulsa). The ones that are showing me the most interest are FSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Tulsa. Nebraska too."

What stands out about the Hawgs?

"I like the conference they play in, and I also like them because I think they are headed in the right direction."

Ole Miss?

"The other day I talked to just about their whole staff on the phone. It seems like an interesting place I want to check out. Coach Nutt impressed me because he knew exactly who I was. He knew all of my stats, down to all of the names of everybody in my family. He did his research on me and that really impressed me. My mom likes him too. They are a program that is already on the right track, and with the year they are supposed to have this year, they will get even more prospects. They are an established team already so you know what you are getting into if you go to Ole Miss."

What about FSU?

"I like FSU a lot. I met everybody down there when I went on my visit. I like their staff too. It is a pretty good school and a their program is already established too."

Nebraska?

"I have not found too much about Nebraska yet. I have not heard too much about them either because I do not have any friends who go to school there. It is cold up there, but I do know about their head coach. He is a defensive minded coach so he should have them playing some ball in the future."

What is going on with Tulsa?

"They just recruit you real hard, real hard. They never stop (laugh)."
