Family Preference for Ajawara
Los Flores (Calif.) Tesoro offensive tackle Sil Ajawara (6-4, 303), continues to sit on the four offers he's had for most of the summer. Ajawara plans to visit three of those schools officially, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA and he's been in steady contact with Oregon, hopeful of an offer from the Ducks. "I still have the four offers but as of right now, Oregon is really the only other school I've been talking with and they said they would be watching the first few games of my season and let me know if they'll be offering. They're really tight on scholarships this year." Ajawara said he anticipates things picking up after September 1st, either with the schools recruiting him or the ones who've yet to begin. Either way, his focus is on the upcoming season. "Practice has started so I'm just getting focused in on the season coming up," said Ajawara. "I've done a couple of (unofficial) visits during the summer, to Arizona and UCLA, but I'll take official visits there in the fall. Right now, I'm hoping to take as many official visits as I can." Ajawara attended UCLA's scrimmage last Saturday at Drake Stadium and said he's being recruited fairly hard by the Bruins. "My dad was able to go to the scrimmage with me and we got to talk with the coaches and some of the other players and that was really cool," said Ajawara. "They like UCLA not just because it's close to home but because of the education. They know if I walk out of there with a degree, I'll be set. An education from UCLA means a lot to them." Ajawara said all of his offers have come as an offensive guard, but he's moved from left guard to left tackle this fall, to replace Arizona State freshman Evan Finkenberg. "It's been a little adjustment because you have to play more in space, but it's not been that difficult," said Ajawara. Ajawara and Tesoro start their season in two weeks against Mission Hills HS of San Marcos. Academically, he has a 2.8 GPA and scored a 1500 on the SAT.
