"I had a pretty good season," added Treyvias Alexander. "But this year is going to be even better. They have me in a spread offense now. I had a really good off season. I think I am headed for a big year this season."
The former Breaux Bridge (LA) standout feels like his game is all around better
than his high school days.
"I'm bigger now. I grew an inch of two, and I have added about 15 pounds
of muscle. I am a lot stronger now. We also have a new staff at Hinds CC, and
they have been awesome. My speed has gone from a 4.48 to a 4.4 flat. Coach (Gene)
Murphy has really helped my game out a lot."
What does Treyvias bring to the table as a player?
"Jumping ability, hands, everything. I had like a million coaches come
see me in the spring. I couple dropped me some offers like USM, Ole Miss, La
Tech, UL Lafayette, Utah State, and Tulsa. Those are the ones I stay in touch
with the most. There are a couple more like MSU that I stay in touch with a
lot too. MSU told me they are about to offer. Alabama, California, Texas Tech,
Florida, Oklahoma State, South Florida, and Memphis are all talking about it
(offer), but I have not gotten any letters yet."
An Ole Miss assistant recruited Alexander out of high school and the interest
has continued from both parties.
"They were the first school to offer me, actually. Coach Dickerson (at
Ole Miss) recruited me out of high school when he was at UL Monroe. I just like
what they did last season and how they throw the ball. They are becoming a big
time program. That is what gets my attention about them, but I have not even
stepped foot on campus yet. I am trying to go to some games to see which five
schools I will visit, but Ole Miss is definitely going to be one for sure."
Southern Miss is recruiting Treyvias the hardest.
"They offered me early too. They send me a lot of letters and check up
on me twice a week. Everybody else just checks up on me once a week, but I always
talk to Southern twice a week. Coach is always calling me. I get the most letters
from USM too. I get one handwritten letter a week from all of their offensive
coaches. They are definitely showing me the most love."
Tulsa has an attractive offense.
"I like Tulsa because they throw the ball a lot. That is what I like about
them. They run the 5 wide out and get a lot of receivers in the league. If I
go there; I know I am going to be playing in a pass friendly offense."
What is going on with MSU?
"State said they wanted to see how their new WR's did before they mkke
a final decision on how many juco WR's they are going to take. Right now, they
plan on taking two juco WR's, and they said I was #1 on their list."
What is going on with Alabama?
"They are saying the same thing. They are going to offer me soon. They
want me to play on the other side of the ball with Julio Jones. They said we
would be unstoppable."
Alexander's goal is to graduate in December but said it would be "real
