The Knights added commit number eight today. Andrew Rice, a local star who has loved UCF for years…
Scout's Take: UCF WR commit
What to Like: Cornelius Whitehead is one of the most explosive players in the entire 2010 class in this state. He plays on both sides of the ball and is a major impact player at the prep level. He's been productive and makes a difference in many different ways. As a wide receiver prospect, he has ideal height to be an outside receiver. At the same time, he's fast and explosive enough to be an inside guy. He has tremendous ball skills and really goes after anything thrown in his direction. He has excellent leaping skills and has a 40-plus vertical jump that was performed at a few different camps in recent months. He's an excellent athlete who also runs track and is used to competeing on a year-round basis. He's excellent with the ball in the open field and can also lower his shoulder at times and get physical. What may concern you: While he has ideal height, he still needs to bulk up before he's ready to step in and play receiver at the Div 1 level. One knock on him is that he's played very small school competition over the last few years. He was at a tiny school playing against tiny schools and it makes you wonder if he'll be able to make that big of a jump without some sort of drop off in production. He has transferred to Mount Dora High, a bigger school, for his senior season so it'll be interesting to see how he does there. Bottom Line: UCF won't sign a more talented, athletic, or explosive prospect in the 2010 class. Whitehead's 6-foot-1, can run, jump, make plays, do a lot of different things. If he's able to show that he can adjust to playing against bigger schools, which shouldn't be a problem at all, he's an ideal prospect to come in and make some big things happen for the Knights at the wide receiver position.
