2011 Intro: Victor Nelson
Maine South (Ill.) has produced some great skill position players over the last few seasons. Last year, quarterback Charlie Goro put up outstanding numbers and committed to Vanderbilt. This year, tailback Matt Perez is an Indiana commit. Next year, the big draw recruit at the school will be one of the big men who paved the way for those two though, Victor Nelson, a 6'7, 310-lb offensive tackle drawing the interest of many schools. "I've gotten mail from Iowa, Northwestern, Harvard and some others," he reported, "and I camped at Northwestern, Illinois, Dartmouth and Harvard." A good student in the classroom, Nelson is looking at the Ivy League schools, but is not limiting himself just to that. "My mom wanted me to go look at those schools he said. It would be great to play for any big school, because they all have great academics." The nearby Illini told Nelson they liked what they saw of him at camp. "They said they would recruit me. I went up there with my coach. They asked him to help with the camp." With the college season starting, Nelson is readying his travel schedule so he can check out a few games in person. "I'll be going to an Iowa game in a couple weeks."
