Scout.com's #36 nationally rated defensive tackle has gotten off to a quick start and has helped Madison Central to a 3-0 record. To learn more about Bryon Bennett, read below.

"We beat Hattiesburg in our first game," added Bryon Bennett. "I had 6 tackles and a sack in that game. We played Memphis Melrose and beat them by 10 or something like that. I had a really good game in that game. I had like 9 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble. Last week, we played Provine and beat them. I had 4 or 5 tackles and a 1/2 of a sack."

How would the 6' 3", 260 pounder rate his play up to this point?

"Right now I am playing pretty good. The teams are running away from me a good bit, but I am chasing them down. I am working on my pass rushing. I am pretty good against the run. That is my specialty. Stopping the run. Overall, I think I am playing pretty good. I am more explosive overall."

Madison Central plays Canton this week. They have a bye the following week, and then they have a national audience watching them play.

"We play Clinton on ESPNU. That is all everyone is talking about right now. Two of our starters on the defensive line are banged up so the bye is actually coming at a good time for us. We should be back to full strength by Clinton."

Bryon was on his way back home from the Ole Miss/Memphis game when we called.

"I wanted to really look at their defensive line. I was disappointed that Greg Hardy got hurt because I wanted to watch him in person and see if I could pick up on any new pass rushing techniques. He came back and played a few plays later in the game, but he did not play much. Their defense has all of the weapons though. They wrapped up good. #57 (Jerrell Powe) and #92 (Marcus Tillman) played really fast. They wrap up well too."

Bennett's overall impression was like most who watched the game.

"I thought at the beginning it was slow, but they picked it up like I expected them too. They were swarming though. Their defensive line fires off of the ball. Their linebackers filled the gaps. Their defensive backs picked it off for a TD. Overall, I thought it was a good game for them. Now they just have to start like they finished."

Bryon was going to attend another game this weekend but those plans changed.

"I was supposed to go to MSU (Mississippi State) with Carlton Martin, but I couldn't go because I had someone homework to finish."

What is on tap next?

"The week after next, I am going to the LSU/Florida game, and then I am probably going to take an unofficial visit to Texas Tech sometime after that."

What is going on with LSU?

"They are recruiting me pretty good. I am not getting many letters from them, but they have been calling. I spoke to their coach the other day, and he wants me to come over there for the Florida game, so I am. I actually just got off of the phone with a coach from Syracuse, and we talked about me coming up there and playing as a freshman. He told me that they have the #1 Communications program in the country."

Like most recruits, Bryon is aware of his current rankings and is looking to improve his stock so he can get even more looks.

"One of my biggest priorities is to get up to a 5-Star ranking, or at least a 4-Star ranking. Carlton (Martin) has been picking on me (because he is a 4-Star) so I know I have to really produce on the field this year so I can get up there. The more stars I get, the more looks I am going to get. I am trying to get a few more colleges looking my way."

The Magnolia defensive lineman mentioned that he wanted to check out Texas Tech soon. What is going on with the Red Raiders?

"I do not know them very well, but they have been calling a lot lately. I do not know where I would rank them compared to Ole Miss and some of the other colleges, but I figured I would take a visit up there."

What is T Tech selling to Bryon?

"They are really selling me on coming up there and starting. They have a couple of people leaving. They have a lot of seniors leaving and are not afraid to play their seniors. I also want to major in Engineering, and they tell me they have a pretty big Engineering program over there."

Which colleges have now offered?

"Ole Miss, Mississippi State, USM, Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan State, Baylor, Michigan State, and Kentucky."

Are there anymore colleges that are heavily involved that have not offered, outside of TTech, LSU, and Syracuse?

"UCLA and Auburn are writing a lot, but I have not heard from them on the phone yet."

Who are Bennett's top schools?

"I am really considering Ole Miss. I like how they play. It is not far from home, and I feel like I can get some early playing time there. Texas Tech is #2 because of what they have been telling me lately. They are graduating all of their tackles this year, and they are talking pretty good. I would probably put Alabama #3, but Ole Miss has moved to #1."
