West Virginia just picked up a safety commitment from Florida and so lets take a closer look at what…
Scout's Take: Troy QB commit
What to Like: The first thing you notice about Luke Barnes is how productive he's been at the prep level so far. He's thrown for over 4,000 yards over the last two seasons and close to 50 touchdowns. He's getting the job done by completing a high percentage of his passes. He's accurate, doesn't make many mistakes, and has a good enough arm to make a lot of the throws. Plus, at 6-foot-3 he has ideal height for a Division 1 quarterback prospect. What may concern you: He doesn't have a cannon for an arm and he never went to any of the offseason camps or showcases to be able to tell how he stacks up against other area quarterbacks like Clint Trickett or Nick Bracewell. Barnes doesn't throw against a whole lot of Division 1 DB prospects throughout the year so it'll be interesting to see the type of transition he'll have to make to the college game. Bottom Line: He's one of the better quarterback prospects in the Panhandle this year so Troy going in there and getting his commitment before the season started was a good pickup for them. He's a good-sized kid who's put up good numbers and he has a lot of Division 1 tools for a quarterback.
