There was some question as to whether or not Bruce Gaston would be healthy this week, but he was out…
Scouting Report: Chi Brother Rice at St. Rita
Chicago Brother Rice at Chicago St. Rita Scouting Report | Photo Gallery | Gallik Video | Gaston Video Recap Chicago St. Rita and Chicago Brother Rice squared off in a Catholic League showdown on Friday. The game featured highly touted recruits in St. Rita's defensive tackle, Bruce Gaston, who has been offered by a number of BCS schools and Brother Rice offensive lineman Andy Gallik, an Illinois commitment. However, it was another Gallik, St. Rita quarterback Rob Gallik, who stole the show. The senior quarterback was 11 of 15 for 177 yards and two touchdowns in St. Rita's 35-14 victory.Keeping Brother Rice in the game was sophomore running back Martez Walker, who had 13 carries for 127 yards and a few big returns. St. Rita running back Jahwon Akui rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Scouting Reports 90 Bruce Gaston Sr Defensive Tackle St. Rita Gaston had a relatively quiet game. He made a couple tackles and got decent penetration on a couple plays. He has a nice set of tools to work with. He has a good build and is in shape, looking slimmed down from this summer even. He has solid quickness and movement ability, even despite a knee brace due to an injury. He hustles and pursues and also does a good job of playing with good, low pad level. He still could get bigger and stronger. As I see it, Gaston is a work in progress with the physical tools to become a very good collegiate defensive tackle. 59 Andy Gallik Sr Offensive Lineman Brother Rice Gallik is Brother Rice's left tackle, but he projects to guard in college. He does a great job of finishing his man. He has very good natural strength and is a mauler. When he got his hands on someone, it was over. He will move inside at the next level, because he doesn't have the frame or feet of a left tackle. However, that move will highlight his strongsuit, which is run blocking and power football. Overall, I was impressed with the Illinois commitment. He may not have some of the physical attributes of some highly recruited linemen, but he is tough, strong and plays hard.
