Prospect: Brandon McGowan
Class: 2011
Location: Suwanee, Georgia
High School: North Gwinnett
Position: Linebacker
Size: 6-3/210
Strengths: “Number one is film study and knowing what to do against certain teams. Film is big to us. Number two is my overall athletic ability. I have good speed and strength. Our defensive line is smart and they help me a lot. They take on blockers and help me make plays. I can also cover and take on blockers.”
Need to Work On: “I definitely want to improve my overall strength and speed. I would like to get better taking on blocks too. I go against Austin Shepherd and JaWuan James so they make me better, but I still need to improve.”
Recruiting: “I have already visited Wake Forest and I have gone with C.J. Uzomah to Georgia and Clemson. Virginia, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, and Georgia Tech are also showing interest.”
Offers: “No offers yet.”
Top Schools: “Definitely Wake Forest is at the top right now. Then it would be Georgia Tech and Georgia. Clemson is in there too. Those three are about the same.”
2008 Stats: “I played a little bit of varsity last mainly on special teams so I did not get a lot of playing time. I ended up with nine tackles as a sophomore.”
2009 Goals: “Our team goal is to win the state championship. I want to become the person with the most tackles, the most sacks, and just help the team as much as I can.”
Scout’s Take: McGowan is a junior to watch. He has really stepped his game up in 2009. He has stepped into a starting role and made the most of his opportunity. He plays fast, he stays around the ball, and he explodes through his tackles. He is an athlete that will play outside linebacker on the next level and he is one to watch in 2011.
