Prospect: Arrington Jenkins
Class: 2011
Location: Miami, Florida
High School: Killian
Position: Defensive End/Outside Linebacker
Size: 6-2/216
Strengths: “My speed, shifting my weight, making quick turns, and getting to the football are my biggest strengths.”
Need to Work On: “Right now I am trying to improve on my coverage skills and my footwork. I will be dropping back into coverage this year because I will be playing a lot more linebacker this year.”
Summer Camps: “The only camp I went to this summer was the Dawg Night Camp at Georgia. I worked out at outside linebacker there and they really liked me. It is a real nice campus, the coaches are cool, and I liked it a lot up there. I am going to go more camps next year, but I just worked out down here this summer with my teammates.”
Recruiting: “UCLA, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, Rutgers, and a whole bunch of schools. The first school to show interest was Miami and then FSU was next to start recruiting me. After that everyone started showing interest.”
Offers: “FSU has mentioned an offer will come, but they want me to take my SAT first. I don’t really have any offers yet though.”
Top Schools: “I really like Georgia a lot right now and I also like Miami, Florida State, UCLA, LSU, Tennessee, and Ohio State.”
2008 Stats: “I had about 86 tackles and I had a lot of sacks. I am not sure how many though. I always go after the quarterback.”
2009 Goals: “I just want to go hard all game, have fun, help the team win, and get some offers this year.”
Scout’s Thoughts: Jenkins would like to play outside linebacker on the next level, but he may be recruited as a rush end. He is explosive out of his stance, he gets to the quarterback quickly, and more schools have told him they like him as an end opposed to a linebacker. He is athletic, he likes to hit, and he will be a highly recruited prospect in South Florida in 2011.
