What is Tennessee getting in Ted Meline? South Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons breaks down the…
Meline's committed, but still looking
"I am still committed to Tennessee, but Georgia is right behind them," said Ted Meline. "Georgia is going to be a school I visit offcially, but I am not sure when just yet." Georgia was always a school on Meline's list. He visited Athens back in the spring and he put them on after he left. Tennessee got in the mix and the coaching staff won him over, but the Dawgs are not done just yet. "Coach [Tony] Ball came down to my game last week and he kind of surprised me. I was walking in the school and I looked up and saw him. I couldn't talk to him, but I shook his hand and then he hung around and watched me play." Coach Ball liked what he saw according to the 6-foot-3, 170 pound Florida wideout. "He could not stay to see if we won or not, so I called him after the game and the first thing he told me was he liked my 90 yard touchdown," said a laughing Meline. "He told he wants me to be that big receiver that they like to throw to at Georgia. We did not win the game, but I had 103 yards receiving on two catches, I had 40 yards rushing, and I had some tackles at safety." It was Meline's first game at North Miami because he had to wait for the paperwork to get done due to him transferring over from Booker T. Washington. He is now cleared, healthy, and ready to have a big season. "I expect to make plays this year. I am playing a lot of different positions and I think I can really help the team." North Miami is the team he is helping now, so who be that team in the future? Right now it is the Vols of Tennessee, but could he change his mind? "I chose Tennessee because of the coaches, especially Coach [Eddie] Gran. I like him a lot and he is coming down this weekend to see me play. I just felt good about the coaching staff when I committed and I still feel good now." "Georgia is right there with them though in my top two and I would say they have a slight chance. I like Tennessee too because they want me to play corner. I think my size could help me make plays against receivers. Georgia likes me as a receiver, so that is something that is different about the schools and I like defense a little more." Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, North Carolina are recruiting Meline and recently Michigan and Ohio State have started to show interest. He is committed, but he is not completely done just yet. "I am going to give Georgia a serious look," he admitted. "I have liked them a lot for a long time, so I am ready to get up there for my visit. I am also planning to visit Clemson and Tennessee officially as well." "I like Tennessee a lot and I think I will go there, but I want to make sure it is right for me."
